Some Impressions of my very first Artists' Alley experience on a Comic Con!
I was attending the German Comic Con 2017 in Dortmund on December 9th and 10th. I had a great experience presenting my art and meeting new people. I didn't participate in any exhibition in quiet a long time now, so I thought I give the Comic Con here in Germany a try!
Preparing for the event took quiet long as I haven't had any base of products to work with. I needed to print everything from scratch and figure out what kind of prints I'd like to bring to GCC 2017.
MANY THINGS I'D DO DIFFERENT NOW
There were many things that I'd do different now, but for my first event everything worked well. I printed a high banner made out of fabric for easy transportation. I also didn't really know how to best display my work. So I brought a couple of boxes which I could use to make my prints stand in front of. Displaying your art just flat on the table is not really attracting visitors to look at your work.
YOU SHOULD NOT BE SCARED OF FAILING!
I was a bit worried about not getting the rent of the booth back in. However, that didn't hold me back from attending the Comic Con. I told myself, even if I don't make a cent on that day, it would have been worth it! Luckily that wasn't the case and the event went very well for me! I think it's not just about the money. It's about people getting to know you as well as socialising and connecting with other artists from the industry.
LIVE INTERVIEW AT COMIC CON 2017
I was super glad to do a quick live interview with "ZweiKampfSofa" who uploaded the Interview to their YouTube Channel and talked about me, my art and the Convention in general. Feel free to watch the interview on YouTube via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuO8vvJd4Zk&list=PLz8EnXh56b1bH4LsHoOv9_SrtpuWQexZq (My Interview starts at 4:50 min and appears here and there through out the video)
I also met Hodor from Game of Thrones and I took a picture of me sitting on the Iron Throne!
